An ongoing neighbour row between Robbie Williams and Jimmy Page could heat up over plans to destroy a fungus-filled tree.

The Take That singer applied for permission from Kensington and Chelsea Council to fell a Norway Maple, which he said is infected.

However, a neighbour raised concerns about the cutting down of the tree, saying that there was no reason as to why it needed to be cut down.

The neighbour, who chose to remain anonymous, wrote in a submission: “There is no explanation as to why this tree need be felled, only a series of photos showing parts of it are damaged.

“Should there not be a written report that accompanies each proposed felling and what courses of action could be done before the final resort of felling this tree?”

Next door to Williams lives Page, the Led Zeppelin legend, and the two musicians have not seen eye-to-eye in the past over building issues.

A decade ago, Page opposed Williams’ plans for an underground swimming pool and gym. He also protested when the Angels singer wanted to remove trees in the past along their shared border.

Whilst it is unclear if it was the Led Zeppelin guitarist who was the one to object to the plans, there are fears that William’s planning application could reignite the 10-year-long row.

According to the local authority, planners will visit the tree soon and make a decision on the application by December 18.

In 2014, the two stars butted heads when Williams wanted to build an underground swimming pool and gym, which Page contested by saying the vibrations from the building work could damage his Grade I listed property.

However, the Angels star was eventually granted permission. But it was ruled that builders could only use hand-held tools to excavate the basement – adding years to the project.

A couple of years later, tensions rose again between Williams and Page when he said that the guitarist was sitting in his car outside his house and recording workmen, which he compared to having “a mental illness”.

Williams also butted heads with locals when his neighbours accused him of “environmental vandalism” after he attempted to cut back 14 trees.

The singer most recently applied to the local authority to have the tree felled, claiming it is infected with Honey fungus.

Tree surgeon Michael Gotty submitted the application form on Williams’ behalf, stating: “Norway Maple – remove due extensive decay at the base (Honey fungus). Re-plant with species TBC.”

The maple tree he wishes to destroy is protected by a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) meaning it cannot be chopped down.
