Cardi B had a full-blown meltdown after Donald Trump was re-elected as America’s 47th president Tuesday night.
As Trump marched his way back to power, winning key swing states like Georgia, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, the deflated rapper took to Instagram to blast the former president’s supporters.
“I hate y’all bad,” the Grammy winner, 32, captioned a video of herself looking dejectedly into the camera.
Earlier in the night, as Trump’s victory became apparent, Cardi desperately tweeted that his opponent, Kamala Harris, who she stumped for, was in need of a “Hail Mary.”
As the election night rolled on, Page Six recapped Cardi’s reaction to the results on Instagram Live.
“I swear to god, I’m gonna f*** you up,” she said addressing those who voted for Trump. “Get away from me! I’m sick of you! Burn your f***ing hats, motherf***er.”
As it became clear that Harris’ bid to become America’s next president was going to end in failure, Card said she felt “really sad.”
“No matter what, I know that (Harris is) probably emotional right now. I know there’s probably a lot going on in her mind and I know she’s not listening to this, but she will eventually see it,” Cardi said. “I just hope she knows no matter what happens tonight, millions of people are proud of her. Women around the world are proud of her. Women of colour are proud of her.”
Cardi campaigned for Harris last week in Wisconsin, saying at a rally for the vice president that she “did not have faith in any candidates … until she said the things that I wanted to hear.”
Reading from her phone, Cardi told the crowd: “I do not take lightly the call to show up, the call to speak up, the call to deliver a message that has been on my heart for a hot minute now…”
Cardi called Trump a bully and lambasted him for a speech in which he said he’ll protect women “whether they like it or not.”
“Just like Kamala Harris, I too have been the underdog. I have been underestimated, my success belittled and discredited. Women have to work ten times harder, perform ten times better and still people question how we got to the top,” she said.
Cardi also accused Trump of “hustling Americans.”
“He’s selling us bigotry, misogyny, division, chaos and confusion. And it’s going to cost you your money, equal opportunity, affordable health care, and any rights you thought you had for your body. He’s going to take it from you! Listen to me. He’s going to take it,” she tried to warn last week.
“I’m not giving Donald Trump a second chance,” she continued. “I’m not taking any chances with my future and I’m damn sure am taking no chances for the future of my children!”
After her speech, billionaire businessman Elon Musk got into a war of words with the I Like It hitmaker when he called her a “puppet who can’t even talk without being fed the words.”
“I’m not a puppet, Elon,” Cardi fired back. “I’m a daughter of two immigrant parents that had to work their a** off to provide for me! I’m a product of welfare, I’m a product of section 8, I’m a product of poverty, and I’m a product of what happens when the system is set up against you. But you don’t know nothing about that. You don’t know not one thing about the American struggle.”
But Cardi wasn’t the only celebrity who came undone after Trump took back the White House with 277 electoral votes and 71,635,578 ballots cast in his favour.
Alec Baldwin, who famously lampooned Trump on Saturday Night Live during his first presidency, shared a photo of a black screen to his Instagram.
“Why? Give me your reasons why????? My child is sobbing because her rights as a woman may be taken away. Why? And if you disagree, please unfollow me,” Christina Applegate wrote on X.
Without naming Trump directly, author Stephen King wrote on X: “There’s a sign you can see in many shops that sell beautiful but fragile items: LOVELY TO LOOK AT, DELIGHTFUL TO HOLD, BUT ONCE YOU BREAK IT, THEN IT’S SOLD. You can say the same about democracy.”
Say Anything star John Cusack wrote on X, “The fact that the country would choose to destroy itself by voting in a convicted felon rapist and Nazi is a sign of deep nihilism. To put it mildly.”
Meanwhile, Mary Trump — the niece of the new president and frequent critic of her uncle — also lamented the results.
“I am so deeply sorry. I thought better of us,” she wrote on X.
But not everyone was crying about Trump’s resounding win.
Former Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Roger Clemens invited Trump’s detractors to pack their bags. “Whoever said, ‘I’m leaving America if Trump wins’ … don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.”
Elsewhere, Trump critic Robert De Niro was mocked on X after the former president’s return to power.
“Has anyone checked on Robert De Niro?” one account asked in a tweet that was liked over 127,000 times.
Barstool’s Dave Portnoy also cheered the “total ringing endorsement for the Republicans and Donald Trump.”
“He just didn’t win. He won for fun: he won the electoral, he won the popular vote, he got more votes than last time,” Portnoy said in a video shared to his Instagram page.
“The Democrats gave us no choice,” he said. “That was the worst campaign and the pure arrogance and the moral superiority have driven people away … “Millions and millions and millions of people voted for Trump,” Portnoy continued. “He won clearly. He won decisively.”
