Lucas ‘Prince’ Bahdi’s opponent got knocked out before he even entered the ring.
Most Valuable Promotions announced on Wednesday that the Canadian boxer will be prepping for a new opponent for his fight on the undercard of the big Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson clash next week.
Bahdi will now be taking on Armando Casamonica after American Corey Marksman was forced to bow out of the bout due to an injury.
Bahdi, a top-ranked IBF and WBA lightweight contender with a record of 17-0 with 15 KOs, will be taking on a fellow undefeated fighter in the Italian, who sports a record of 14-0 with three KOs.
Their 10-round lightweight bout is part of the undercard for the massive Paul-Tyson matchup, which is set for Nov. 15 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Tex., home of the Dallas Cowboys.
Casamonica became the new Italian super lightweight champion in May and won his first title defence in October. He is a member of the Casamonica Clan, the “most feared family in Rome and throughout the Lazio region.”
“It’s an immense honour to represent my family and our legacy on the biggest stage in boxing,” he said. “Boxers dream of nights like this — fighting under the lights at AT&T Stadium, in front of millions of fans around the world, including my fans at home in Italy.
“I’m bringing everything I’ve got to this fight and Lucas Bahdi better be ready because history meets destiny (next week).”
Bahdi, who fights out of Niagara Falls, is undefeated since making his pro debut in 2019 and won his first 11 fights by knockout. In May 2023, ‘Prince’ defeated Jesus Amparan to claim the IBF North American Lightweight title.
“Undefeated fighters always fight hard to protect their records and I expect that Armando Casamonica will do that, but I’m also undefeated and will fight even harder than him,” he said. “I can’t wait to put on a show.”
The main event of the night will be the long-awaited showdown between boxer Tyson and YouTuber-turned-fighter Paul. The bout originally was scheduled for July, but Tyson suffered a medical emergency involving an ulcer, causing the fight to be postponed.
The co-main event features undisputed super lightweight champion Katie Taylor (23-1, 6 KOs) putting up all of her super lightweight belts against unified featherweight champion Amanda ‘The Real Deal’ Serrano in a hotly anticipated rematch.
Bahdi isn’t the only Canadian on the match card for the night: Pefferlaw, Ont.’s Melinda ‘The Whip’ Watpool will take on American Shadasia ‘The Sweet Terminator’ Green for the vacant WBO super middleweight title.
