A Co Down man is currently “fighting for his life” in a coma in Australia, as a fundraiser has been set up to help his family.
The family of Gilford man Conor Molloy have travelled from Northern Ireland to Australia to be at his bedside.
More than £2,000 has been raised in a matter of hours after the fundraiser was set up on Wednesday morning, with local sporting clubs offering their messages of support and well wishes for the man and his family.
The GoFundMe fundraiser was shared by Gilford Amateur Boxing Club.
In a statement on social media the local boxing club said: “Unfortunately Gilford lad Conor Molloy is fighting for his life out in Australia… family have had to fly out to be at his bedside.
“Can we help make things a little bit easier financially together as a village and as a district.”
Other sports clubs in the area were quick to post their own messages of support for Mr Molloy.
Gilford Crusaders Football Club posted: “The thoughts and prayers of everyone involved with Gilford Crusaders are with the family of our former player Conor Molloy who is currently fighting for his life in Australia.
