A man who initiated a violent attack on a woman in Weston-super-Mare has been jailed. Troy Johnson, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to assault by causing actual bodily harm and was sentenced to 20 months in jail on Tuesday, October 29.
The hearing, at Bristol Crown Court, was told how at about 6.30pm on Wednesday, September 25, 32-year-old Johnson began attacking his victim. The prosecution described the assault as ‘brutal, prolonged and persistent’.
He hit her violently and repeatedly in the middle of the street. As a result, the victim was left with a black eye, face swelling and a bleeding nose.
Officer in the case, PC Ben Weston, said: “I would like to thank members of the public in their assistance with this investigation.
