Maintaining a friendly rapport with neighbours can sometimes be a test of patience. While it’s not necessary to be best friends with those living next door, a simple greeting is generally well-received.
Some residents go the extra mile, accepting parcels or sharing tea bags in times of need. Yet, there are instances when neighbourly relations sour due to disruptive behaviours like loud music or inconsiderate parking.
Nicole Turner Bell recently vented on TikTok about her “neighbours from hell” after reaching her breaking point. A particularly brazen neighbour had the nerve to ask her to move her car from her own driveway and even suggested she sell her home because someone else was interested in purchasing it.
Nicole recounted the infuriating encounter, saying: “My neighbour asked me to move my car because it’s ‘not in keeping with the street.’ She came round to my house last night and had a massive go at me. I came back from the supermarket today, and I thought, ‘Oh, she’s coming over to apologise.”
Nicole recounted a rather presumptuous move by her neighbour who made an unwelcome offer to help sell Nicole’s house, thinking she was under financial stress due to the car she owns. Nicole set the record straight saying, “But no, she came over to tell me that if we are struggling, then she does know someone who wants to buy our house. The only inkling she’s got that we’re struggling is from the car that I drive,” reports Nottinghamshire Live.
She went on to share the story of how she acquired her current Kia Sorento: “I didn’t want to pay car payments anymore so I bought her for £200. Honestly, it’s such a bargain. It did smell like an old man at first, but now I’ve got air fresheners, and she’s absolutely fine. It cost me £200 and cost me £300 to insure. I’ve had it since June now, and I’ve had no issues at all. Monthly car payments just aren’t for me anymore.”
Nicole didn’t shy away from discussing previous issues with her neighbour, citing examples of petty complaints: “She moans if we don’t water our plants enough,” and “She doesn’t like the fact that we have astroturf in our garden for the kids because she wants it to be real grass. She doesn’t like the kids playing out on the street because she said they should be playing in their own gardens. God forbid one of the kids leaves a bike or scooter out. She also doesn’t like us leaving any bikes or scooters in our garden, she wants them in the shed because it’s not in keeping with the area.”
Nicole’s video has left viewers stunned at her neighbour’s audacity, prompting a flurry of comments regarding the state of her vehicle, many asserting it didn’t look shoddy enough to entice a £200 offer. Likewise, users are pitching in with inventive suggestions for Nicole to exact some “petty” retaliation just before Christmas.
One commenter said: “My level of petty would be through the roof. I’m thinking the tackiest of tacky Christmas decs in the garden, from now on, park the car on the road instead and chalk hopscotch and drawings all over the driveway.”
Another advised: “Print up a list of hobbies and pastimes to give her and suggest her time would be better spent indulging in one of them. Don’t be as snotty as I’d be tempted to be, though. Maybe gentle parent her into it.”
