The average new-vehicle price in Canada is well over $65,000, but you can get a premium vehicle from Lexus for less than that—well, sort of. If you want to buy a base model of the 2025 Lexus RX, it will start at $60,130 in Canada. Once you add destination fees and taxes, you’ll be back around that new-car average, but you’ll be on your way in a premium SUV from a reliable brand. Win-win, right?
If you’re in the market for a new Lexus RX, you’ve got no fewer than 16 variants that include everything from ICE models to hybrids to PHEVs. (If you’re hoping for something all-electric from Lexus, you’ll have to look at the RZ 450e.) This year, Lexus also adds two new grades: the RX 350h F SPORT Design and the RX 500h Black Line Special Edition. The four different powertrains being offered within the RX lineup include:
- RX 350: 2.4L turbocharged four-cylinder engine mated to an eight-speed automatic, delivering 275 hp and up to 317 lb-ft of torque, and a fuel efficiency rating of 9.9 L/100 km city/highway combined;
- RX 350h: A hybrid system with a 2.5L four-cylinder engine and electronically controlled CVT, good for 246 net system horsepower and a fuel efficiency rating of 6.5 L/100 km city/highway combined;
- RX 500h: A 2.4L turbocharged four-cylinder engine with an electric motor, inverter, and reduction gearbox. It is coupled to a six-speed automatic and delivers 367 net system horsepower, up to 406 lb-ft of torque, and a fuel efficiency rating of 8.6 L/100 km city/highway combined; and
- RX 450h+: Plug-in hybrid electric powertrain featuring a 2.5L inline-four-cylinder intercooled engine and an electronically-controlled CVT with an estimated fuel efficiency rating of 2.8 Le/100 km combined city/highway, as well as up to 60 kilometres of electric range.
