The OPP are investigating after a “shooting incident” at a Kemptville medical clinic early Saturday.

At about 1:30 a.m., officers from the Grenville County detachment went to the scene after an alarm had been activated at the building on Somerville Road. There, they found damage to the clinic and evidence of a shooting incident, but there were no injuries and no one was at the property at the time, police said in a news release Monday.

The Kemptville Health and Wellness Centre, which is located on Somerville, wrote in a social media post Saturday, “We would like to address a situation which we understand may be causing concern within the community.

“Overnight on Friday November 1, 2024, an unfortunate incident occurred at KHWC, which involved damage from an outside source to the exterior windows of the property.

“No person was harmed or injured during this incident. Law enforcement has been advised and appropriate investigations and safety measures are being taken.”

The post stated the clinic was closed Saturday and that further information would be posted about when it would reopen.

“We understand this may cause distress within the community,” the post read. “We thank you for your concern and understanding, while we continue to take appropriate measures to ensure a safe and secure environment.”

The OPP stated they did not believe there was any threat to public safety.

Anyone with information or surveillance footage of the area at the reported time of the incident was asked to contact the Grenville County OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Police said those wishing to remain anonymous could submit their tips online at Ontario Crime Stoppers.
