A woman has been left unnerved after attributing a string of bizarre occurrences to a ceramic clown she picked up at a car boot sale. Despite Halloween being in the rearview mirror, her ordeal seems ripped straight from a horror movie script.

Since acquiring the ‘ceramic bowling figure’, she’s experienced odd phenomena: seven ravens congregating and “staring” at her in her garden, unexpected emotional surges, and even her house getting struck by lightning, causing flooding on her street. The figurine, named Craig, is thought to be a vintage piece with a “haunted” reputation.

The owner, who has not revealed her location, had a friend post it for sale on Vinted, who wrote: “I don’t believe in spirits or haunting. Well, I didn’t until my friend bought this at a car boot and now doesn’t want it in her home after the strange goings on.”

She detailed the eerie events: “The first day it was here, everything was fine. But in the morning, there were seven ravens sitting along my fence, all looking at me. Later on that day, I got a very, very strong wave of sadness wash over me.

“It was all of a sudden and lasted about 20 minutes. I decided to move the clown into the garage as it was freaking me out and the sadness went away once he was removed. I thought he was a little creepy and [that] my mind was playing tricks.”

However, within a few hours, she reported that her “house was struck by lightning” and shortly after, “the heavens opened” causing her “road to flood”. According to What’s The Jam, the clouds then cleared and the sky brightened.

She said: “I’ve never seen anything like it. Craig was sitting on top of the fuse box in the garage. The street flooded and neighbours were out trying to help.”

The owner reportedly consulted a medium who identified the doll’s name and mentioned he “misses laughter and his mum singing to him”. After bringing him back inside and conversing with him regularly, she noticed the strange occurrences ceased.

She added: “Maybe he just needs an understanding, loving home?” It’s also reported that the owner’s parrot “hates” the clown. The friend selling the figurine stated: “I don’t accept returns. Please think long and hard before buying this.”

Accompanying the listing was a photo of ‘Craig’ next to a pack of baby wipes – presumably for size comparison – and a picture of the flooded street. Despite the warnings, ‘Craig’ seems to have found a new home, though whether his ‘hauntings’ will continue remains to be seen.
