A 10-year-old who was bitten by her family dog has died after sustaining “serious injuries”.
North Yorkshire Police were called to the property in the town of Malton at around 4.15pm on Friday.
The young girl died inside the family’s home following the incident.
Officers said that medical professionals and a member of the public came to the family’s aid.

When officers arrived, it was seized and taken to a kennel where it currently remains.
The breed of the dog has not yet been reported and police have asked the public not to speculate.
