Two people are in custody after a police officer and a Mounted Unit horse were injured in Toronto’s downtown core while cops investigated a stolen vehicle.
Toronto Police said on social media that officers received a video ALPR (Automatic Licence Plate Recognition) alert that the vehicle, a truck, was allegedly stolen, in the Queen St W. and University Ave. area at around 3:15 p.m.
Following a short pursuit, cops allege the driver of the vehicle rammed a police cruiser and injured an officer.
The officer was transported to hospital.
Cops also said a police horse was struck by the vehicle and is being assessed.
