Catholic school teacher Emily Nutley was assigned to help a struggling 17-year-old student.
Instead, cops say the 42-year-old mother of three had sex with the boy in her office.
Nutley has now been charged with six counts of sexual battery and fired from posh St Xavier High School in Cincinnati where tuition is $18,110 per year along with a $300 administration fee. Hamilton County Prosecutor Melissa Powers said Nutley met the teen when he was sent to a program for academically struggling students.
Nutley was in charge of the program.
“This is absolutely unacceptable and reprehensible conduct from an adult towards a minor child,” Powers said. “This child was in need of help and guidance but instead found an adult looking to act out her perverted sexual desires.”
In the fall of 2023, the teen and teacher began texting back and forth after school hours. Cops say that led a slew of nude selfies and “sexually explicit messages.”
According to Powers, the budding relationship escalated from raunchy photos to sex in November. The trysts allegedly occurred in her office at the all-boys school after hours.
And even when the teen tried to break things off, Nutley allegedly kept texting him.
When the school discovered the alleged illicit relationship they called police after conducting an internal probe. Nutley was fired as soon as the criminal investigation started.
Nutley had been employed at the Jesuit school for four years. On their website, she was listed as the multi-tiered systems support coordinator.
According to reports, Nutley has two daughters and a son who is only slightly younger than the alleged victim. He attends a different school.
On social media, she wrote of her previous work at another school: “The kids that need the most love will ask for it in the most unloving ways. Be THAT person for THAT student.”
Her mom wrote on her Facebook page before the illicit sex began: “A good daughter, a great wife and loving mother and a wonderful advocate to all of your students.”
Powers added: “This child was the victim of an adult predator who should never again have a role that puts her in contact with children,’ she said.
“She used this child for her own sexual gratification while taking advantage of the position she held.”
In other teaching news:
Former teacher Emma Delaney Hancock was convicted of soliciting sex from a student. Hancock had denied the charges and claimed the students were lying.
She was found guilty on two counts of soliciting sex with a minor through the use of technology. Court documents revealed that the sexual abuse of her 15-year-old victim lasted for months.
Again, Hancock kicked things off with text messages that led to sexting and finally to nude videos and photos being sent to the boy.
The jury recommended six years in prison for Hancock. Her husband and father are powerbrokers in the small Sooner state town.
She is the wife of Wellston Police Chief Alfred Hancock and the daughter of Wellston Mayor Paul Whitnah. Both men say they are supporting her and claim the students are lying.
Court records show that in October 2022, Hancock “sexually molested the student and allowed him to, take a hit from her vape pen.”
Hancock admitted in court that she did let students smoke from her vape pen.
Meanwhile, disgraced West Virginia teacher Courtney Rankin pleaded guilty to sexual intrusion or sexual contact against a student by a school employee.
Rankin, 33, admitted she was engaged in a torrid sexual relationship with her 17-year-old student. Rankin had sexual intercourse with the boy at least 10-15 times at her apartment.
The former Bridgeport High School teacher released a statement in court: “I was in an abusive relationship that put me in a very low point in my life. And that school year, I ended up befriending one of my students and it became inappropriate. We acted as if we were in a relationship, and it became sexual in nature as well.”
She now faces one to five years in prison and must register as a sex offender for the rest of her life.
