Luke Littler has shot to fame in the sporting world in the last couple of years, becoming the youngest ever darts player to reach the final round of the PDC World Darts Championship, just weeks before his 17th birthday.
And now, kids around the UK who have been inspired by the teenager’s success will have the chance to try and replicate it – with this Magnetic Target Darts Dartboard Set for Kids, designed by Littler himself in collaboration with manufacturer, Target Darts.
The family-friendly dartboard, which is “safe for kids” and “great fun” for all the family, comes with one double-sided, ultra-strong magnetic board, complete with a traditional-style dartboard on one side, and an archery-style target on the reverse.
It also includes 12 safe magnetic darts, which claim to stick every time to the magnetic board, as well as one wall-mounting kit, and one throw line which the player must stand behind when throwing the darts.
The board can easily be set up for indoor and outdoor use, and is suitable for children aged three years old and above – so you can get your kids started young, just like Luke Littler.
The board is currently available on Amazon for £18.95 – £1 off its usual retail price of £19.95 – and is the perfect gift to snap up now for your kids this Christmas.
One person who has had the chance to try the dartboard is Narin Flanders, shopping correspondent at The Mirror, who had a go on the dartboard at this year’s Big Christmas Show – and said it is the “perfect reasonably-priced present” this Christmas.
Narin wrote: “Luke Littler famously picked up his first set of darts as a toddler, and this magnetic set is a budget-friendly, safe way to get all the family playing together.
“Initially, when I saw it I assumed it’d be a cash-in with little replay value – we’ve all played with magnetic toys where things don’t stick properly and the build quality isn’t as good as the idea of the game.
“This is completely different. When you throw the darts they land on the board with a satisfying thunk and stick properly, meaning you can have a proper game. The double-sided board is a nice touch, and everything about it makes it the perfect reasonably-priced present that will see everyone wanting a go come Christmas Day.”
But Narin is not the only person who has been left impressed by the kids’ dartboard set, which has racked up an Amazon rating of 4.7 stars out of five.
Shoppers have been calling it “child friendly” and “good value for money”, with one writing: “10/10, really impressed. Bought as a present and cannot fault for the price. Magnets strong, graphics really cool.”
Meanwhile, another wrote: “A fantastic darts set for any young darts enthusiast. I ordered this awesome darts set for my nephew to try. He dreams of becoming the next Luke Littler, and so as soon as he saw his hero’s face on the packaging, it immediately became an absolute hit!
“What really impressed me was the build quality. The dartboard feels sturdy and well-made, and the magnets on the darts are strong enough to ensure they stick every time. My nephew has been playing both indoors and outdoors, and the set holds up great in both settings.
“The design of the dartboard featuring ‘The Nuke’ is a nice touch, especially for young fans of Luke Littler. It adds an element of excitement and inspiration for my nephew, who looks up to him. Plus, having 12 darts means no waiting around for turns, which is great for keeping the game moving and everyone engaged.
“Overall, this dartboard set has provided endless fun and practice for my aspiring darts champion. It’s safe, well-made, and the perfect gift for any young darts enthusiast. Highly recommended for anyone looking to inspire the next generation of dart players!”
And a third added: “This magnetic dart is great fun for the whole family. Very easy to set it up, sturdy and durable material. It fits anywhere in the house and it is compact if you need to put away. Colourful and well made. My children really enjoy playing with this on games night.”
However, not everyone had rave reviews about the item, as one commented the dartboard was “too noisy”, writing: “I got told off as the third dart I threw hit the wall and took the paint off. OOPS. Hubby not happy.
“So, you need a large backboard to throw against as these little darts are not going to throw accurately, unless your kids are darts pros, and even then, the balance is weird compared to a real dart.
“I wanted to love this as I love darts, but I don’t. The idea is better suited for the garden (hope the neighbours don’t mind the banging noise it makes with every dart). Not something I would want to give to a friend/family member, they might never speak to me again!”
The kids’ dartboard is part of a new, expanding range of officially-licenced Luke ‘The Nuke’ Littler merchandise from Target Darts this season, including this cabinet, darts and dartboard set for just £69.99, that is great for older children, and even these high-spec tungsten darts used by the darts champ himself, for real enthusiasts.
Elsewhere, if you’re looking for a more budget-friendly, interactive dartboard option, you could try Winmau’s Softip Electronic Dartboard, which promises loads of fun with its tech-savvy scoring options, all for just £27.
