The latest stage of the search for missing Jack O’Sullivan has seen a team of specialist search dogs brought in. The ‘Find Jack’ campaign has posted the latest update on X, detailing the expanse of the two-day search for the missing 23-year-old Bristol student.

Jack was last seen at 3.15am on Saturday, March 2, in the area of Brunel Lock Road/Brunel Way after a night out in the city. The search has brought in a dog unit within the last fortnight, with three handlers taking the dogs across a new area of search geography over a two-day period.

The team searched around and below the Avon Gorge Hotel and below the Clifton Suspension Bridge on the Leigh Woods side.

Although nothing was found, the team was happy to report that the search had been carried out. As a ‘target area’, they added, it was now ‘crossed off’ the list.

The team behind Find Jack posted on X: “Last week we had another round of searches that involved a team of specialist search dogs. The three handlers came with two dogs specifically trained in this line of work.

“Over the course of two days they searched around and below the Avon Gorge Hotel. The zig zag path has now been searched throughly too. Lastly, the team also searched below the Clifton Suspension Bridge on the Leigh Woods side of the Gorge.

“Nothing was found but it has allowed us to cross off more places on our list of targeted areas. Thank you for your continued support, this community is a really powerful force for good.”

Police say since Jack’s disappearance more than 20 different teams and departments have been involved in the investigation. Earlier this year it said more than 100 hours of CCTV have been reviewed, 200 hours of searches on the river and the surrounding banks, mounted police searches from Bristol city centre to Flax Bourton, 40 land searches, and 16 drone deployments.
