Matt Walsh has spoken out about his previous opposition to Donald Trump, telling GBN America he thought the presidential candidate was a “leftist”.

Speaking to Steve Edginton, the American conservative political commentator admitted he has U-turned on his initial trepidation.

“If you go back to 2015 in the primaries, it was a time when conservatives were at each other’s throats and I was certainly a part of that”, he said.

“I try not to engage in the infighting nearly as much now as I did back then. It doesn’t help anyone but your political enemies. At the time, Trump came on the scene and no one had seen anything like it before.

“My big worry was, he is a reality TV star and made a lot of money and is a celebrity, my big worry was he’s actually a secret leftist who has infiltrated the Republican Party.

“He claimed he would appoint conservative justices and overturn Roe vs Wade. I was very angry when he came on the scene. Then he won, and it’s not how he governed. I was wrong.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS

“Not only is he conservative, he’s further to the right on some issues than others.”

Walsh, a Daily Wire host, previously opposed the Republican and insisted his stance of ‘never Trump’ was unwavering.

But he has since thrown his weight behind the 78-year-old who is vying for a second term in the White House.

The final desperate push for votes is underway with Trump and Kamala Harris heading out West.

Trump was joined by Tucker Carlson on stage in Henderson, Arizona for a sit-down interview while singer and actor Jennifer Lopez came out in support of Harris.

Earlier in the week, Trump had posed in a garbage truck dressed as a sanitation worker in a brutal trolling of Harris and Joe Biden.

It came after Biden branded MAGA (Make America Great Again) voters “garbage” in a furious rant about Tony Hinchcliffe’s infamous Madison Square Garden jibe about Puerto Rico.

Swathes of celebrities have emerged from the woodwork to back the candidates with many opting for the Democrat.

Pop superstar Taylor Swift added her support last month, describing the current vice president as a “steady-handed, gifted leader”.

Terminator star Arnold Schwarzenegger said he will back Harris in the election despite saying: “I don’t like either party right now.”

The former Republican governor of California said his party’s candidate, former US president Donald Trump, would “divide”, “insult” and “find new ways to be more un-American than he already has been”.

Friends star Jennifer Aniston confirmed she had voted for Harris to “end this era of fear, chaos and the attacks on our democracy” while encouraging fans that “your vote matters”.
