Strictly Come Dancing professional Jowita Przystal alluded to the fact that she was “worried” about her upcoming performance with Pete Wicks.

This weekend, a brand-new special week will see the remaining couples pay tribute to some of the most recognisable and influential people in the music industry.

The couples will dance to songs from their favourite music heroes and audiences might even catch some contestants emulating an icon.

Przystal and Wicks will be performing the Salsa to Another One Bites the Dust by Queen and today joined It Takes Two host Janette Manrara to discuss how training had been this week.

Manrara asked: “Jowita, do you think that taking on a role like he did last week, and now doing it again this week is going to help Pete with the dance?”

“Urm… I think…” she hesitated before Wicks teased: “She’s been with me all week and sounds convinced.”

Explaining herself, Przystal continued: “No, I think. The one thing that Pete has very similar to Freddie is his performance mode and a moustache.

“Genuinely, he goes into performance mode so quickly and I think every time on Saturday night, I feel right now that he is performing but also dancing.

“Like two weeks I feel like he is not only performing but also dancing, so he combines both of them. So I am not worried about the performance…”

Intrigued by what she was worried about, Manrara probed: “Tell us what you are worried about!”

“She’s convinced isn’t she,” Wicks once again joked before Przystal said: “I am not worried about anything… I am not worried about...”

Trying to help her out, Manrara asked: “Should he be worried about lifts?”

Not letting her answer, Wicks jibed: “I’ll answer that one, yes! Yes, he should! We’re not doing the Salsa this week, we’re doing Cirque-du-Salsa.

“I think she has got confused with Cirque-du-Soleil and I don’t know who she thinks I am, Beth Tweddle.

“I am not a gymnast but there is some mad stuff going on this week. She is very well known for that, I am not.”

Laughing at his comment, Przystal added: “If you think about it, we’re doing Another One Bites the Dust. Freddie Mercury, Salsa… we need to bring Cirque-du-Soleil as well.”

Whilst Wicks and Przystal seemed comfortable with their dance and song choice, fans of the series have claimed Wicks is being “stitched up” week after week.

Fans flooded the Instagram post published by the show’s account that announced the routines with their dismayed reactions.

One criticised: “A salsa to another one bites the dust? Really?! could not think of a less appropriate song for that dance.”

A second echoed: “A salsa to another bites the dust, have a day off whoever picked the songs choices. Kinda boring concept. Could have had them doing iconic dances from the past 20 years of scd.”

A third shared their concern for Wicks: “It’s a good job the public are behind Pete because his music choices have been some stitch-ups.”

And a fourth agreed, simply weighing into the discussion: “Clearly trying to catch Pete out.” (sic)
