GB News Breakfast presenters Stephen Dixon and Ellie Costello spoke of their frustration today after the Chancellor decided not to appear on GB News.

Rachel Reeves instead decided to appear on Good Morning Britain for an interview with the former Labour Shadow Chancellor Ed Balls.

Reacting to the decision, Ellie began: “Morning. We went to speak to the Chancellor. Weren’t we at about 8:00 this morning? But it didn’t happen.

Stephen added: “She blamed timings, but we know she was there. She just chose not to come on to speak to us, which is disappointing because it meant she didn’t want to speak to you.

“And it’s not actually ok, when a government has delivered a budget and their first budget for 15 years and a controversial and tax heavy budget, they need to be scrutinised.

“She has agreed to go on to GMB, where she was interviewed by the former Labour shadow chancellor, Ed Balls.

“Maybe he gave her a hard time. Well, I doubt it.”

Ellie continued: “We are hoping that she’s going to speak to our political editor, Christopher Hope, a little bit later on today.

“So you will be able to hear from the Chancellor on GB news, but it doesn’t leave that bitter taste in our mouth.”

Stephen said: “Well, it’s her thing is that we don’t want to be too critical in a sense, because what you don’t want to do is, is then turn around and say, well, we’re never going on GB news because they’re just horrible about us. It’s not the case.

“It’s a legitimate interview to be held, and there are legitimate questions to be asked. And they need to be put to her and she needs to. We need to see what she’s made of and see how she responds.

“And she hasn’t done it.

“And I just think that’s a letdown for all of our viewers and listeners who deserve to know what is happening with their pay packets, with their pensions, with their employers and everything else.”
