A TTC bus was hit by a pickup truck early Thursday, leaving eight people injured.
Toronto Police say the collision happened around 4:20 a.m. in the Yonge St. and Finch Ave. area.
The truck driver fled after the crash but was captured and arrested. He is among the injuries, none of which are considered life-threatening
The bus driver was also injured, TTC CEO Greg Percy said.
“The operator has been transported to hospital along with a number of customers who were on the bus,” he posted to X. “I share everyone’s concerns for the wellbeing of our colleague and our customers. Our thoughts are with them all at this time.
“The safety of our employees and our customers is the most important thing to me. Today’s incident is a sad reminder of the challenges the TTC faces on the roads every day.
“We will support the operator and any employee who requires it as a result of this incident. We will also continue to assist Toronto Police Service with their investigation.”
There was no immediate word on any charges.
