Princess Kate likes to keep a bit of normality in the Royal Family and makes sure life with Prince William and her children is as down-to-earth as possible.

She revealed during an event in 2019 that she likes to involve her children in cooking, with roast chicken—a favourite of Prince William’s—being a meal she often prepares.

Back in 2012, Katie Nicholl, a Royal correspondent for Vanity Fair, reported: “In the evenings she indulges her hobby of cooking William’s favourite supper, roast chicken.”

These intimate insights into their family life date back to when William and Kate were newlyweds living on the Isle of Anglesey while William served as a search and rescue pilot with the Royal Air Force (RAF). Despite the prince’s fondness for roast chicken, the Royal Family are known to enjoy a wide range of cuisines, reports the Mirror.

During a 2018 visit to St Luke’s Community Centre in London, Kate got involved with children making pizzas and remarked: “I’ve done that with George and Charlotte – making pizza dough. They love it because they can get their hands messy.”

At the time, she was promoting the Commonwealth Big Lunch project, donning aprons and preparing food. An international celebration of the Commonwealth, the project encourages people to join together in community acts.

The prince and princess also enjoy the occasional takeaway, with Indian or Chinese known as their top choices.

In a chummy 2017 BBC Radio 1 chat with presenter Scott Mills, the Royal pair shared that they’re “absolutely” allowed to indulge in takeaways. The Princess of Wales confessed her top pick is “curry, definitely”, whereas Prince William conceded he’s “not so good with spice”.

Even Queen Camilla, despite having access to top-notch chefs, enjoys the odd takeaway. In an interview with her son Tom Parker Bowles for YOU Magazine, she revealed her favourite takeaway is traditional fish and chips, saying: “Freshly cooked fish and chips, wrapped in paper. That smell. You cannot beat proper fish and chips.”

Her preference mirrors that of Queen Elizabeth II, as reports have indicated the late monarch also enjoyed the classic dish.

When it’s time to kick back, each Royal has their favoured beverage. Kate opts for gin and tonic, aligning with a national favourite, which many Brits will appreciate after a hard day’s work.

An Edinburgh Live report quoted a palace insider explaining, “William will bring Kate a gin and tonic. They look after each other but in different ways.”

The couple have joked around before about the shared household responsibilities and how they are divided up.

During an appearance on Radio 1, they joked with one another about who would be cooking dinner that night when they got home, with Kate saying: “You’re looking at me?” before admitting she would probably make a teriyaki salmon or curry for their family.
