Police have charged two men, seized a replica firearm and recovered two stolen vehicles after a carjacking in Richmond Hill.
York Regional Police said officers were called Sunday at 9:30 p.m. about a carjacking in the Hwy. 7-Bayview Ave. area.
It turns out three suspects came up to a motorist, assaulted him with what appeared to be a handgun and stole his Mercedes. The man suffered minor injuries.
A short time later, police located the Mercedes driving along with a second stolen vehicle, an Acura sedan, according to the allegations.
Police said they arrested two suspects around 1:40 a.m. Monday in the Lawrence Ave.-Wexford Blvd. area.
A replica firearm was seized and the two stolen vehicles were recovered.
Axel Diaz, 23, and Keyon Grenade, 22 — both of Toronto — have been charged with robbery with a firearm, disguise with intent, two counts of property obtained by crime, and weapons dangerous.
Grenade was also on a weapons prohibition order for an unrelated offence.
The investigation is ongoing and police are looking for one additional suspect.
