A west Belfast MLA has appealed for young people in the area to ‘thick twice’ after fire fighters were attacked upon attending an incident on Tueaday night.
Sinn Fein’s Danny Baker explained that the fire service was called to deal with a fire at the bottom of Woodside forest, but initially they had to pull back after an attack.
“The PSNI attended alongside Colin Neighbourhood Partnership’s safety officer and the fire service were then able to deal with the fire,” he said.
“Youth workers will be on the streets from tomorrow and over Halloween.
“We have seen an increase in anti-community behaviour, but there is a lot of good work being done by many.
“No one wants to see any young person getting a criminal record, but this is were we are heading.
“Someone is going to get hurt and I would appeal to all young people to think twice and for parents to check in on their young ones.”
Police and the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service have been contacted for further details.
