TV star Jeremy Clarkson is reportedly planning to rival pub chain JD Wetherspoon by launching a string of his own pubs. After his recent heart surgery, Jeremy has already opened his very first public house, the Farmer’s Dog, in the Cotswolds earlier this year.
Friends are reportedly nicknaming him ‘Jezzaspoon’, suggesting that he has his sight set on broadening his hospitality enterprise.
The Clarkson’s Farm star appears to be looking to secure the name Hawkstone Filling Station with the UK’s Intellectual Property Office, according to the publication, reports Gloucestershire Live.
Applications have been submitted for a number of provisions including “services for providing food and drink; temporary accommodation; bar services; bars; pubs; public house services; hospitality services; information, advisory and consultancy services in relation to all of the aforesaid”.
Jeremy’s latest pub venture boldly boasts on its website: “The Farmer’s Dog is the first Hawkstone filling station. But it’s not just a pub, it’s a whole day experience.”
He is thought to be venturing into the realm of prepared meals and sandwiches in what is rumoured to be a lucrative £1 million scheme, dubbed Hops and Chops. Additionally, it has also been suggested that he may dive into the home goods market, proposing an array of items such as knives, crockery sets, aprons, and towels.
The ambition is growing, with plans to evolve his brand to include “prepared meals consisting primarily of meat, fish, poultry or vegetables,” alongside a range of culinary staples like packaged sandwiches, various sauces, and a selection of beers and wines.
An close source said: “Jeremy is hungry for success in the pub world and he’s planning a few more boozers up and down the country. And some of his circle have been calling him Jeremy Wetherspoon and Jezzaspoon.”
