An array of inflatable monsters have assembled themselves around the rooftops of businesses in Belfast city centre just in time for the end of the spooky season here.

Belfast One’s huge inflatable creatures made their highly anticipated return last Friday. Their last visit to the city was back in October 2022.

From October 25 to November 1, these giant beasts are ‘taking over’ seven of Belfast’s most iconic buildings, crawling from windows and rooftops to create a striking and playful spectacle.

Some people might remember the creepy beings from their last appearance two years ago.

In Ann Street, the building which houses retailers such as EE and Kiehls, has again been overtaken by an enormous “kraken” – with large tentacles protruding from each window of the building creating the illusion the large monster was housed inside.

Large eyes have also been placed in trees in hospitality locations across the city centre, to create a spooky effect, while a large monster’s mouth has also been placed at the entrance of Victoria Square shopping centre.

You’ll find other scary pop-ups up at the Masonic Hall, Cornmarket, 2 Royal Avenue, and CastleCourt.

Belfast One is an independent not-for-profit company for the city centre.

Belfast One CEO Martina Connolly added: “Belfast One are delighted to bring world-class animations into the Belfast city centre this Halloween, creating a vibrant atmosphere filled with family-friendly activities.

“Our Monster Takeover will put us on a par with cities such as London, Dublin and Manchester and we encourage everyone to visit, enjoy the celebrations, and be part of the festivities in the heart of the city.”
