Wilson advised: “Whether the fuel duty cut is made or not, keeping costs down is a priority for many households across the UK and there are savings to be had with some straightforward tweaks.”
Meanwhile, vehicle maintenance plays a crucial role in fuel efficiency. Keeping your car clean can save £58 per year for drivers covering the UK an average of 6,000 miles annually.
A clean car is more aerodynamic, allowing for more efficient travel. Properly inflated tyres can boost fuel economy by up to three per cent. Reducing heat and air conditioning usage can further improve efficiency by 10 per cent.
When combined, these measures could potentially save drivers £126 per year. Wilson emphasised: “Even keeping it clean, clear of clutter and with properly inflated tyres can make a difference.”

Wilson added: “Although petrol costs recently fell to a three-year-low, the fuel duty cut implemented in March 2022 may not be continued following the October budget.”
