Suspicious object found in car in Downpatrick declared nothing untoward

A suspicious object found in a car in Downpatrick on Monday morning has been declared nothing untoward.

Police were called to the scene of a security alert near the Gaol Lane area during the early hours of Monday morning.

The object, which is believed to be a large electric battery pack, will be removed and disposed of in due course.

Gaol Lane remains closed at this time.

Motorists have been advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes for their journey.
