Adele is currently grappling with a health issue ‘that’s worse than childbirth’, reports claim. Performing in Las Vegas on Friday, the Someone Like You singer said she was hit by a painful infection that’s now left her ‘a bit deaf’ in one ear.

“It’s the most painful thing that’s ever, ever happened to me,” she said to her audience last week, according to The Sun. “I was on the wrong antibiotics for a few days and they managed to give me one that started to work.”

The root cause of her infection is an especially uncommon water bacteria which she caught while staying in Munich, Germany, over the summer. Although Adele’s pain has now subsided, the hearing loss in her left ear is still very much an issue.

However, this hasn’t stopped her from taking the stage at Las Vegas’ Caesar Palace across 10 nights. The 36-year-old added: “I wanted to chop my ear off a few times.”

In lighter news, Adele also told her fans that she plans to rescue a lot of cats at the tail end of her Las Vegas stint, according to the Mirror. The songstress, who is a mother to 12-year-old Angelo, has a soft spot for rescues, having already adopted a few, including one named Fella Hadid after the model Bella.

But now, she’s gone as far as creating a secret room in her house, dedicated to becoming a hidden feline haven. Speaking in Las Vegas this week, she told her fans: “I’m absolutely going to become an emergency foster cat mum once I move into my new house.

“I’ve created a room that my fiancé doesn’t even know exists and I’m going to have loads of crates built into the wall with all the supplies. He’ll never know about it… but now he might because I’ve said it on stage. I would happily do it full-time.”
