Greater Manchester Police are on the lookout for a suspect following what is believed to be a ‘targeted shooting’ in the area of Oldham. A call brought officers to the scene near Raleigh Close around 9.30pm on the evening of Friday (October 25).

The investigation suggests that this was a targeted act, presenting no immediate danger to the public at large. In efforts to locate the individual involved, Greater Manchester Police have put out a call for assistance earlier today (Sunday).

Identified as Lee James Platt, the 38 year old from Oldham is reportedly linked to Newton Heath and Rochdale areas.

The police have issued a warning to the public advising against approaching the man but to instead contact emergency services at the sight of him. Following the event on Friday, no casualties have been reported, according to GMP officials.

At the location, ammunition casings were recovered by attending officers. Witnesses or anyone with knowledge about Platt’s whereabouts are encouraged to promptly contact the authorities, reports the Manchester Evening News.

In relation to the incident, a GMP spokesperson expressed: “We are tracing a man from Oldham. Lee James Platt is wanted in connection with a firearms incident near Raleigh Close in Oldham on October 25, 2024.”
