South Wales Police have reportedly found the remains of 49 year old Joanne Jones, who disappeared earlier this week. Last spotted on Monday, October 21, at 9.45am at Vale Gardens in Pontypridd, it was believed she was making her way towards Llanwonno Forest.

When she failed to return home, a widespread search ensued.

Throughout the week, specialised search teams and police dogs were deployed to find her.

On Saturday evening, South Wales Police released a statement: “Police officers searching for Joanne Jones, who has been missing since Monday, have recovered the body of a woman. Formal identification is yet to take place. Ms Jones’ family and HM Coroner have been informed.”

The support of the Pontypridd community has been recognised for their invaluable assistance during these trying times. Local residents and businesses proactively contributed, with some aiding in search efforts while others displayed missing person posters in windows, reports North Wales Live.

Before this sombre finding, Chief Inspector Matt Rowlands had on Friday commended the extensive search activities carried out by his team and the use of various resources including the National Police Air Service, drone technology, Mountain Rescue volunteers, and specialist search dogs, as covered by Wales Online.
