Until Iran’s mad mullahs and terrorist-sponsoring military end their perpetual plans for the destruction of Israel — and Israel believes it — there will be no lasting peace between Palestinians and Israelis in Gaza and the West Bank, nor peace in Lebanon.

Iran, meaning its dictators, not its people who are victims of their brutal campaign to crush any hope of democracy in the theocratic Islamic state, is the head of the snake when it comes to Mideast wars against Israel and the spreading of hatred against Jews.

It funds, trains and supports terrorist groups such as Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad in Gaza, Hezbollah in Lebanon, the Houthis in Yemen and other terrorist entities in Iraq, Syria and Bahrain.

A full-scale war between Israel and Iran would destabilize not just the Mideast, but global geopolitics as well as the world economy.

On the other hand, Israel, like any sovereign nation, has the right to defend itself from terrorist attacks and the barrage of missiles fired into Israel by these terrorist groups and by Iran itself.

Given that reality, Israel appears to have shown restraint in launching airstrikes against Iran early Saturday.

It said its attacks were aimed at military targets as opposed to nuclear plants or oil refineries, suggesting that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had heeded U.S. President Joe Biden’s warning not to target them, along with giving the White House a heads-up in advance about its counter-attack against Iran.

They were in retaliation for earlier missile barrages launched against it by Iran early in October, along with missile attacks that have been going on ever since Hamas’ horrific terrorist attack on Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, during which 1,250 people were murdered and 250 more kidnapped and held captive in Gaza.

About 100 of those hostages are still in Gaza, although how many have died in captivity is unknown.

Hamas said its earlier missile barrage was in response to earlier strikes against it by Israel.

Whatever excuses Iran wants to use for attacking Israel, the fact remains that this latest conflict was started by Hamas on Oct. 7, 2023, with the tacit if not explicit support of Iran, and it won’t end as long as Iran’s current regime remains in power, causing chaos.
