The former Manchester United and France captain Patrice Evra has been snapped on social media enjoying Belfast’s nightlife, as he also appeared on comedian Shane Todd’s podcast.

On Tuesday the footballer – who notched up 273 appearances during a trophy-laden career in England – paid a surprise visit to Larne Football Club ahead of their European clash later this evening.

The ex-Manchester United star, who helped them lift the trophy in 2008 as well as five Premier Leagues, dropped by at Inver Park on Monday and chatted to manager Tiernan Lynch ahead of the clash at Windsor Park.

Now it appears Evra has decided to follow in the footsteps of current United forward Marcus Rashford in visiting popular Belfast city centre nightclub Thompsons.

The French international was snapped beside the DJ decks in the club as he took selfies with clubbers and was seen enjoying the music on Wednesday night.

At the start of the year, current United player Rashford notoriously got into trouble with his club after missing training in Manchester due to being out at Thompsons in Belfast.

On that occasion, Rashford also visited Larne’s home at Inver Park before later reporting ill for training the next day.

At the time, Manchester United confirmed the footballer had “taken responsibility for his actions” and that the incident was “dealt with as an internal disciplinary matter”.

Meanwhile, comedian Shane Todd shared a snap of Evra taking part in his Tea With Me podcast.

Mr Todd shared an Instagram snap of the pair sitting down behind the microphones, with Todd wearing a vintage Manchester United training jacket.

Thompsons nightclub has been contacted for a response.
