A Co Down psychic has explained why Halloween is the best time of year to try and connect with the spirit world.

Fiona Stewart Williams is a psychic medium from Bangor who has felt a deep connection with the spirit world since she was a child.

Fiona believes Halloween is the best time of year to try and contact those who have passed as she feels “the veil between the two worlds thin” at that time.

“If you were to look at the diary of any psychic medium worth their salt you will find that the month of October is their busiest,” she said.

“Halloween coincides with the change of the clocks, when the nights are longer.

“It is a time when dark and light come into alignment as we head towards the Equinox.”

The belief that the veil between the spirit world and human world is thinner on October 31 is not a new one and can be traced back thousands of years.

“An ancient Celtic festival dating back to the Iron Age, Samhain is what originated Halloween,” Fiona explained.

She is eager to visit some reportedly haunted spots this year.

“Halloween, or Samhain, is undeniably my favourite season,” she said.

“It’s a period when we remember our ancestors as well as loved ones who have passed away and express gratitude for them.”

This year Fiona will be visiting Scholars Townhouse Hotel in Drogheda.

The building dates back to 1867, when it was built as a Christian Brothers monastery.

“It is known to be haunted and I am so excited to be working there that night.”

She’s also set to visit the Adair Arms Hotel in Ballymena.

It has a rich history dating back to 1846.

“(There are) some spooky goings on in this hotel for sure, and I am so surprised there is no write up on it as yet,” she said.

Psychic Fiona

Fiona first connected with the spirit world when she was a young child.

“I guess I have always had a connection to the spirit world. When it became a reality, ie to this is not your imagination, I was nine years old,” she said.

“My father had taken unwell and was in hospital undergoing tests.”

Fiona’s father sadly passed away while in hospital; however she said he visited her before his death had been announced.

“On that afternoon, his energy connected with me and he told me he had passed to spirit, he showed me how it felt where he was,” she said.

“My first glimpse of Heaven I guess was from my father’s visit.”

Fiona said the visit didn’t scare her but made her comfortable to connect with the spirit world.

“It was rather remarkable and amazing — a space flooded with unconditional love. Words really do not do it justice as to how wonderful the sensation felt,” she said.

“It was later that day it was confirmed to us that he had indeed died and passed on to spirit.”
