A motorcyclist was critically injured in a hit-and-run on the QEW in Oakville on Tuesday evening.

Ontario Provincial Police say the motorcycle collided with a van in the westbound lanes of the QEW approaching Dorval Rd. around 6:15 p.m.

“The driver of the van did not stop,” the OPP said in a post on X.

The motorcyclist, reportedly a 47-year-old Oakville resident, was rushed to a trauma centre with what were initially described as “life-threatening injuries.”

The victim’s injuries were later downgraded to “potentially life-altering.”

Two westbound lanes of the busy highway were shut down for several hours while the OPP investigated the crash.

Police have yet to locate the driver of the hit-and-run vehicle, described only as a light-coloured passenger van.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam video is urged to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
