RG Snyman has been named in the South Africa squad for their UK tour, while Joe Schmidt recalls Will Skelton for Australia’s tour – which includes a clash with Ireland in Dublin at the end of November.

Snyman has recovered from a foot injury suffered in the build-up to the Rugby Championship and has been putting in fantastic performances for Leinster, with two tries and a Man of the Match award against Connacht on Saturday.

Snyman, along with Damian Willemse, Andre Esterhuizen and Franco Mostert, will make a welcome return to the Springbok squad for the tour in November after missing the recent Rugby Championship.

“It’s also great to have RG, Franco, Andre, and Damian back in the mix after recovering from their injuries, and we are excited to see what impact they have on the field, especially after their disappointment of missing out on the Rugby Championship,” head coach Rassie Erasmus said.

The Boks will face Scotland in Edinburgh, England in London and Wales in Cardiff on their traditional end-of-year tour.

Elsewhere, Skelton has been recalled by Schmidt ahead of Australia’s tour that ends with a clash with Ireland at the Aviva Stadium.

Schmidt has been reluctant to use players based overseas but has recalled lock Skelton, who was captain for most of Australia’s disastrous World Cup campaign.

The Leinster players in the Irish squad will be aware of the threats Skelton possesses given the Blues’ recent battles with La Rochelle in the Champions Cup.
