An area of the Bristol city centre will close from next week until December as part of a long-running roadworks scheme which could end in February. On Monday (October 28), Queen Charlotte Street and Crow Lane will close for seven weeks as part of the King Street roadworks project.

Signage has appeared on Baldwin Street at the junction with Queen Charlotte Street advising drivers that the road will be closing next week. The junction is the last for drivers before the bus gate on Baldwin Street.

Signage has also appeared on Crow Lane, which forms part of the one-way system in the King Street area of the city centre. The one-way system, which also includes Welsh Back, would be suspended as part of the works according to notices issued by Bristol City Council.

Diversions will be in place for drivers to access Queen Charlotte Street and Welsh Back during the closures. As the entirety of Crow Lane will close, drivers can access Welsh Back from Baldwin Street using Marsh Street, Prince Street, The Grove and onto Welsh Back.

To access Queen Charlotte Street from Baldwin Street, drivers will use Marsh Street and Prince Street and turn onto Middle Avenue, leading to Queen Square. Vehicles will be able to access Queen Charlotte Street from Queen Square.

The roadworks form part of a long-running scheme to improve the roads and footpaths in the Kings Street area. A notice provided by the council said the roadworks are anticipated to end by February 1. The project began in August 2023.
