Dozens of flavours of Compliments, Great Value, no name and Selection frozen waffles are being recalled because of a listeria contamination, according to Health Canada. There have been no reported cases of illness linked with the recall, which was launched by the company.

Food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick, Health Canada warns, listing several symptoms:

  • Vomiting
  • Nausea
  • Persistent fever
  • Muscle aches
  • Severe headache
  • Neck stiffness

Listeria is especially dangerous for people who are pregnant or have weakened immune systems. “In severe cases of illness, people may die,” Health Canada warns.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is investigating and might recall other items.

Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the store where they were bought. More information can be found on the Health Canada website.
