Anyone eager to put ‘travel more’ on their New Year’s Resolutions for 2025 might have to start acting sooner than they thought to get the most miles for their money. Seasoned traveller and managing director of White House Glamping Richard Edwards revealed precisely when Brits need to start booking their summer getaways for the optimal price and experience.

He shared that the best time to scoop up deals and availability is in the midst of winter, just after the holidays. He explained: “As the holiday season winds down, people tend to be low on money and the demand for travel decreases, creating the perfect opportunity to lock in deals for future getaways. By keeping an eye on different promotions during the winter months, travellers can secure their dream holidays for next year while enjoying significant savings.”

It can be a tricky task as the exact reason many people don’t book holidays during this time is a hole in their pockets burned through by the holidays as well as a shift in paydays in December. However, by starting your savings now you could be able to afford an idyllic getaway just after Christmas. Additionally, if you’re planning a friend or family trip, Richard recommended putting aside the money you would’ve spent on their gifts to the holiday fund instead.

Another date Richard urged holidaymakers to keep an eye on is Black Friday, for more obvious reasons. This is the third Friday in November and usually extends across the weekend ending on what has been dubbed Cyber Monday since the uptick in e-commerce saw this American tradition spreading across the globe, offering eye-watering savings and specials even in the travel industry.

The expert also shared some other travel tips to save a quick buck, such as taking the path less travelled: “When you look at less expensive and less touristy destinations during the wintertime, you not only find lower prices but you can also find destinations that are much more charming than big European hotspots.”
