Luke Littler appeared ‘disgusted’ after his impressive run at the Czech Darts Open came to an end at the hands of world champion Luke Humphries on Sunday.

The 17-year-old has taken the world of darts by storm in his debut season and looked on track to win another title in Prague this week.

He ripped apart Nathan Aspinall in the opening round with a tournament record average of 110.43 before smashing that figure in the very next round against Damon Heta.

Michael van Gerwen averaged 112 in his quarter-final against Littler, but incredibly was thrashed 6-1.

But Humphries managed to stop Littler in his tracks in an enthralling semi-final clash.

The world No 1 was playing at the top of his game in finding doubles to prevent his opponent from scoring.

And the reigning world champion finished Littler off with a double 12 to progress to the final.

There was an amicable embrace between them both on stage before Littler walked off with a grimace on his face.

Sky Sports commentator Dan Dawson said: “It was a stunningly high quality game.

“The World No 1 has asserted his authority, Littler bows out with a tournament average of over 110.

“As you can see he is disgusted he has not completed one of the greatest Euro tour campaigns we’ve ever seen.”

Humphries then made light work of Kim Huybrechts in the final, thrashing the Belgian darts star 8-1.

It’s the second European Tour title of the season for Humphries with his other coming against Van Gerwen at the German Darts Grand Prix earlier this year.

Speaking after his won over Huybrechts, Humphries paid credit to Littler for his performances leading up to their semi-final clash.

He said: “I think I played a solid game. When I played Ritchie Edhouse in my first game I felt good but I felt like I needed a spark.

“It kind of did happen today. I felt that spark again. I still want to change something, I still know there’s another level in me that can get better.

“Luke (Littler) was probably one of the fantastic players of the tournament. But I knew I could beat him. I’ve done it many times and I believed in myself.

“It’s a nice way to cap off what hasn’t been my best ProTour year.”
