Two people were injured in a two-vehicle crash this afternoon. The collision left a major A-road in north Bristol partially blocked in both directions earlier today (Saturday, October 19).

At 1.08pm, Avon and Somerset Police received a report of the crash on the A432 near the junction of Fishponds Road and Stroud Avenue in Eastville.

Officers attended the scene alongside the ambulance service where two people sustained minor injuries. The accident left the road partially blocked, resulting in tailbacks as far back as Manor Road in Fishponds.

It also resulted in traffic building up towards the M32 junction two roundabout and queueing traffic going into Eastville via Fishponds Road. A witness told Bristol Live: “The whole road was gridlocked, both sides of Fishponds Road were just done, it was mad.”

The vehicles were later recovered shortly before 4pm and an hour later, the traffic was easing according to traffic monitoring site Inrix. The road has since cleared and traffic returned to normal.

Avon and Somerset Police said: “At 1.08pm today we received a report of a two-vehicle collision near the junction of Fishponds Road and Stroud Avenue in the Eastville area of Bristol.

“Officers attended, alongside the ambulance service, and assisted with the recovery of the vehicles involved. This was completed shortly before 4pm. Two people sustained minor injuries.”

Fishponds Road acts as a key road linking the Eastville and Easton areas of Bristol to the likes of Fishponds, Downend and Staple Hill. Earlier this year, the A432 was named as the most traffic-clogged major road in Bristol.
