A former Strictly Come Dancing winner has said one particular celebrity could be “at risk” of elimination this weekend. Professional dancer Ola Jordan, who won the show in 2009, has spoken out about which couples are looking strong and others that are not.
Ola, from Poland, revealed that Wynne Evans could soon face the chop following a controversial incident last week. While the opera singer has been performing well in the dances, Ola believed the public might not vote for him and his partner Katya Jones.
Teaming up with Mecca Bingo, Ola said: “Wynne could be at risk this weekend too. It’s a tricky one because I would never think they would be in the bottom two, but, after the incident that’s gone on this week, maybe he’s at risk this weekend.
“The public don’t like to be messed about, if they think something is going on, they’re just not going to like it, and they won’t vote for them.”
Her comments come after awkward footage showing Wynne appearing to place his hand on Katya’s midriff prompting her to push him away led to concern from viewers. The couple since went on to say it was just a joke denying multiple times that anything untoward was going on or there was any friction between them. The BBC also cleared them of any wrongdoing.
Ola, 42, continued: “But they’re doing really well in the competition, and I don’t want them to go out because I think they’re a good couple and they’re doing well. I really like the Tango they did last week, so it would be a shame if they are in the bottom two.
“But if they are in the bottom two, they will most likely be saved by the judges because they’re quite good. If they find themselves in the bottom two with anyone who is not as good, for example, Paul, then they will be saved. But it would be a shame if they are in the bottom two because I think they’re quite good.”
Speaking about the footage, she said: “With Wynne and Katya and what went on last weekend, it might have been just silly banter between them, but it’s all gone a bit weird. It all depends on how you’re going to come across and how your dance is going to fall.”
When asked about other contestants in the show, she added that Dr Punam and Paul are the “weakest” performers. She said: “Paul is dancing to the Samba this weekend which is tricky for anyone, let alone Paul. He’s just going to have bent legs all over the place, like he has in previous dances.
“Punam’s going to have a lovely ballroom frame, and she’s going to be just dancing around the dancefloor with Gorka, so she’s got more of a chance to do better. She will have a better chance in the scoring as well. Even if she’s in the bottom two against Paul, for example, she could probably do better than him – she’s probably safe.”
Strictly Come Dancing will air on BBC One tonight (October 19) at 6.25pm and October 20 at 7.20pm.
