Christmas is a season of traditions and indulgences, particularly when it comes to food and drink. In our household, two must-haves for the adults are luxury chocolates and a bottle of Baileys.

An exciting new beverage combines these two favourites, elevating them to a whole new level. Moreover, if you’re aiming to spread out your Christmas expenses and save some money in the process, Baileys Chocolate, which only arrived in stores this month, is currently discounted by 18% on Amazon, reducing its price to £16.50 for a 50cl bottle from the usual £20.

As a big fan of Irish creams, I’ve willingly sampled most Baileys flavours over the years (my top pick, aside from the classic Original, is Mint Choc Shake, but we’ll never mention the pina colada flavoured one again despite it being based on my favourite cocktail), as well as other alternatives like Five Farms, Coole Swan and a range of Hotel Chocolat liqueurs, including this Espresso Martini flavoured one that tastes like tiramisu in a glass and is another holiday favourite.

My preference usually leans towards less sweet options, so when I first saw Baileys Chocolate, I didn’t anticipate loving it as much as I did because I assumed it would taste almost sickly sweet to me. How wrong I was.

My initial taste of the chocolate Baileys was a delightful yet unexpected sensory explosion. It carries the scent of the classic Irish cream, but upon tasting, it resembles the smoothest and most luxurious chocolate milk you’ve ever experienced, with a slight hint of warmth at the back of your throat post-swallow, reports Wales Online.

As a self-confessed fan of cream liqueurs I was keen to see whether Baileys Chocolate would earn its place with my other festive essentials.

Despite its 15.7% ABV, it’s moreish and tastes significantly milder than you’d expect, even when compared to the stronger 17% alcohol content of Baileys Original. It would be fantastic served over ice cream or perhaps in a cocktail.

However, if you’re partial to Bailey hot chocolate, I’d suggest adding the original liqueur to your preferred mug or purchasing the Baileys infused drinking chocolate, as diluting the special edition version too much could diminish the joy of its chocolate flavour. Overall, Baileys Chocolate is a crowd-pleasing addition to the flavoured versions of the Christmas staple and is the ultimate choice for chocolate lovers.

It would make a great dessert alternative while cosied up on the sofa watching a Christmas film. Amazon has been slashing prices on various alcoholic delights over the past few weeks as consumers’ attention shifts towards Christmas.

Naturally, Baileys has caught my eye the most, but whisky enthusiasts can also snag a beautifully gift-boxed bottle of Glenlivet, now reduced by 37% to under £25.

The online giant has reduced traditional bottles of Original Baileys to a better-than-supermarket price of £13 per litre. In addition, Baileys Birthday Cake flavour, which I highly recommend for those with a sweet tooth, has been discounted by 25% and is now priced at £13.

The various flavours are also available from supermarkets, although different stores seem to stock different flavours, so if you’re keen on collecting all of them, you may need to shop around. There’s also a wide range of fun Baileys gift sets available this Christmas from retailers like Asda, B&M and others. However, The Bottle Club offers a great selection if you prefer shopping online rather than hitting the high street.
