Prince William has revealed that he and Princess Kate let “their little dog Orla” sleep in the bed with them.

It comes after the Prince of Wales was pictured giving attention to several dogs during his visit to Duchy College Stoke Climsland in Callington, Cornwall, on Thursday.

One owner claimed, despite being unfamiliar with the breed, William was in love with her little dog as he was videoed stroking the black and white cockerjack.

Louise Harland, 42, owner of Jacks, said William remarked on how soft her pet’s ears were and “gave him lots of loving”.

The royal also admitted that his dog Orla sleeps on the bed with him and Kate at night.

William said: “My dog is exactly like this… loves cuddles.”

The Prince and Princess of Wales’s spaniel, named Orla, was given to the family by Kate’s brother, James Middleton, in the summer of 2020.

Their first black spaniel, Lupo, died in November of the same year.

Lupo came to the family as a puppy in 2012, a year after Kate and William’s high-profile royal wedding.

“Orla” is a Celtic name which means “golden princess”, while “Lupo” is Italian for “wolf”.

During his visit, Prince William was taken aback by an enthusiastic labrador called River.

The lively dog jumped at him while he was introducing himself to her handler.

The animal management programme manager, Holly Rushton, explained that animals visit the college to aid students in their animal management studies.

“She comes in and helps the students with their dog training and things like grooming,” she said.

“The students find it great working with the dogs.”

During his visit, William learned about the various courses offered by the college, including degrees in equine science, agriculture, and horticulture.
