A Co Antrim manufacturer of lifts and elevators which has been in business for 40 years has now been acquired by a US firm.

Pollock Lifts in Carrickfergus was sold to Harmar Mobility in Florida last month, with the deal announced on Thursday.

The Northern Ireland firm makes elevators, homelifts and steplifts, installing and servicing them around the UK, Ireland, Europe, Australia and North America.

It has 175 employees at its manufacturing site, exporting around the world to Europe, Australia, the Middle East and across North America through certified distributors.

Harmar described the deal was “an exciting partnership” which added a new product category.

Chief executive Steve Dawson said: “We are very excited about the future of Pollock Lifts.

“Harmar is thrilled to work with such an outstanding team at Pollock and we couldn’t have asked for a better one to join our family.”

Saunder Graham, managing director of Pollock Lifts, said: “The sale of Pollock Lifts to Harmar Mobility is a great outcome for our customers and team members.

“We have spent the last 25 years building our incredible business and are excited that Harmar will continue our strong traditions of quality products and customer satisfaction.”

Harmar, founded in 1998, specialises in wheelchair lifts for cars, stairlifts for homes, and residential and commercial vertical platform lifts.
