Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to obtain the “Golden Visa” after reportedly purchasing property in Portugal, it has been claimed.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited the southern European country last September for a “romantic three-night break”, following their trip to Germany for the Invictus Games.

Sources suggest that the move could be following in the footsteps of Harry’s cousin, Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank, who own a home in CostaTerra Golf and Ocean Club.

Brooksbank is also employed in marketing and sales for CostaTerra, which has lead to suggestions that the Sussexes sought help from their family member with their purchase.

Speaking to GB News, former royal correspondent at The Sun Charles Rae claimed that Harry and Meghan “would have got a discount” if they had used Brooksbank’s help in making the purchase.

Rae explained: “Surprise surprise that they’re using their relatives who’ve got it. Jack and Eugenie have got a house there, and he represents the company in whose house he has bought.

“So it’s only natural to think that Harry and Meghan are going to be neighbours to the couple.”

When questioned on whether the Sussexes would have got a discount from Brooksbank, Rae quipped that he is “sure they got a good deal” if he did help them secure the home.

Rae added: “I’m sure they’ve got a good deal, far better than you or I would ever get.”

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

Detailing the possible benefits of owning property in Portugal, Rae highlighted that Harry and Meghan would be able to obtain a visa to the “European Union’s Schengen area”, meaning they can “travel quite easily” across the continent.

Rae told GB News: “It’s more important for Meghan to do that because Harry can do that in any case, as he’s still technically a British subject.

“But if they get this Golden Visa, I don’t think that’s why they’re doing it, to be perfectly honest.”

Delivering his verdict on the possibility of Harry and Meghan returning to the UK, Rae stood firm on his belief that the Duchess will “never step foot in this country again”.

Rae concluded: “I’m still of the view that Meghan’s never going to set foot in this country ever again. And honestly, I say hoorah, fantastic.

“Harry keeps coming back because he’s got various charities to sort out and legal matters to sort out as well. So there’s nothing preventing him coming back, whether or not he’s got a place in Portugal.”

The couple’s main residence remains a £19.5million mansion in Montecito, California.

The property boasts seven bedrooms, 13 bathrooms, and various luxurious amenities including a library, cinema, gym, pool, and a chicken coop.”
