Harry Styles’ mother, Anne Twist, has offered a touching tribute to Liam Payne, who has died aged 31. Anne posted on Instagram to her 2.5 million followers a solemn black screen with a red broken heart emoji.

Her caption poignantly read: “Just a boy…,” accompanied by another shattered heart emoji. One Direction enthusiasts have flooded the post with condolence messages.

One fan shared their shock and grief, stating: “I’m so heartbroken for his friends and family, I’m in utter shock,” while another expressed: “Gone too soon and so young. Forever in our hearts Liam.”

Zayn Malik’s sister, Waliyha, posted a nostalgic photo of herself with Liam on X, previously known as Twitter, voicing her disbelief and sorrow: “I can’t believe it, I honestly have no words for this sad moment… I really can’t believe it,” reports the Daily Record.

According to Mirror reports, Liam fell from a hotel building’s third floor in Buenos Aires. Emergency services were called outside the hotel following the incident.

Alberto Crescenti, a spokesperson for the ambulance service in the city, described the incident as resulting in a fall of about 40 metres causing “severe injuries which were incompatible with life.”

He provided TN with the details: “At 17.04 through the 911 integrated public safety system, we were alerted of a person who was in an internal courtyard of the management of a south house hotel. At 17.11 a SAME team arrived and verified the death of this man and later we found out that he was a singer in a musical group.

“Unfortunately, he had injuries that were incompatible with life, as a result of his fall, so we had to confirm his death, there was no possibility of resuscitation.”

The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) has confirmed that it is engaging with Argentine authorities in response to reports of a British man’s death. Liam, who became a global sensation at just 16 as part of one of the world’s biggest boybands, had been documenting his exploits in Argentina on social media, including attending a gig by Niall, his former band member.

Social networks have been flooded with expressions of grief over the sudden demise of the “Strip That Down” artist. Paris Hilton, among other celebrities, has voiced her distress at the news, deeming it “so upsetting” and extending her “love and condolences” to the star’s family and friends.

On social media, she voiced her sorrow: “So upsetting to hear the news of @LiamPayne passing. Sending love and condolences to his family and loved ones. RIP my friend.”

Former X Factor contenders Jedward, also known as TV presenters and musical artists, acknowledged the loss on the platform formerly known as Twitter: “RIP Liam Payne. condolences to friends and family.”

They extended their thoughts to Cheryl, Payne’s partner, along with his son Bear, and everyone associated with One Direction. The twin brothers John and Edward Grimes, famously known as Jedward, rose to fame through the same show that launched One Direction.

The prestigious BRIT Awards, where Liam had enjoyed a significant amount of success, winning seven awards from a total of twelve nominations over the years, have also added to the tributes for the departed artist. From the official BRITs handle, they expressed their grief: “We’re incredibly sad to learn of the tragic passing of Liam Payne. Our thoughts and prayers are with his friends and family at this time”.
