A new Nepalese restaurant is set to open in the former home of a popular curry house in Bristol. Nepali Chulo will open at 403 Gloucester Road, which was previously the Curry Lounge.

The Curry Lounge is believed to have closed its doors a couple of months ago, and signage for the new Nepalese eatery is already up and in place at the premises.

Situated between Sri Lankan restaurant The Kandyan and the recently opened Japanese listening cafe, Lonely Mouth, Nepali Chulo’s shopfront says it is a fully licensed restaurant offering a “taste of culture”.

The burgundy and orange signage also shows a symbol of what appears to be a hot pot, with the English translation of ‘Nepali Chulo’ being ‘a traditional stove or cooking device that provides an authentic Nepali taste’.

When we ventured past the restaurant earlier this week, BristolLive could see work ongoing inside, with furniture and other decor in place.

For now, not much else is known about the new venue. Nepali Chulo doesn’t seem to boast a website or social media page at time of writing.
