The FA’s decision to go with Thomas Tuchel as the next England manager has been mocked by German media.
Tuchel has become the third foreign head coach to take the England job, following in the footsteps of Fabio Capello and Sven-Goran Eriksson.
Of all the managers currently available to take the job, Tuchel is arguably the standout candidate for the FA.
There were no strong English candidates to take the Three Lions job with Lee Carsley failing to win the court of public opinion.

Tuchel also has plenty of pedigree on English soil having won the Champions League with Chelsea in 2021.
But newspaper Bild have poked fun at England for turning to a German as the man they believe can end their long wait for a second major trophy.
Gareth Southgate came close with back-to-back European Championship finals, but fell short on both occasions.
Now it’s the turn of Tuchel, who will officially start his new role in the New Year ahead of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.
Tuchel’s appointment as England head coach has humoured German journalist Matthias Bruegelmann, who branded the Three Lions ‘desperate’.
He wrote: “The desperation on the island must be enormous if they admit that only a German can help now.
“What a tribute to Tuchel and German football that the English are overcoming their fears despite the huge rivalry.”
He also took a pop at England’s lack of trophies since winning the World Cup in 1966, pointing to Germany’s record of three World Cups and three European Championship titles in that time frame.

But Tuchel has received plenty of support from those in the German media in taking the England job.
Former Liverpool star Didi Hamann told Sky Germany: “England is getting an excellent coach. “He knows the Premier League and his good relationship with Harry Kane certainly helps.
In Munich it quickly became clear that Tuchel and Bayern were not a good fit.”

Borussia Dortmund manager Nuri Sahin also said: “I can only congratulate the English FA on a fantastic coach.
“I think extremely highly of Thomas as a coach and know that he can definitely give something to this team.”
Sky Germany reporter Kerry Hau claimed that Tuchel’s appointment was a ‘big surprise’, but said the manager ‘loves England’.
