A motorist thought a lorry was driving straight at her on the motorway – then realised it was being towed ahead of her. The car passenger feared the truck was heading directly for her on the wrong side of the M5.
But she them twigged it was an optical illusion – and the lorry was actually being towed in the correct lane. She shared her photo near Bristol on an M5 traffic Facebook group.
The woman said: “With all that goes on with our motorways this freaked me out! Until, that is, I realised it was being towed!”
The post gathered lots of reaction from group members who stated how it had ‘fooled’ them for a moment. One said: “Took me ages to realise anything was wrong.”
Another added: “Scary for a second until the brain realises what’s happening.”
