A new sushi restaurant is opening on Bristol’s Queens Road, though no official opening date has been confirmed at time of writing. Kokoro is described as a Korean-Japanese restaurant founded by Rak-Kyu Park in the UK more than a decade ago, and since then, it has locations across the country, with customers “flocking” to sample some hearty soups and ‘scrumptious sushi’.

There is already one Kokoro branch in Bristol, located at Unit 1 Glenfrome House on Eastgate Road, near IKEA. According to the brand’s website and Instagram page, this site is strictly delivery only on Deliveroo and opened in September 2021.

The new site is reportedly opening in the old Soho Coffee Co premises opposite the museum, on Queens Road. That stretch of road beyond the top of Park Street has been home to, and still is the home of, a number of local independent foodie hotspots and big chains alike – including Eat A Pitta, Pret A Manger, and the recently opened Knoops hot chocolate shop.

Hot food on the menu at Kokoro include chicken katsu curry, sweet and sour chicken, sweet chilli chicken, beef bulgogi, spicy pork, spicy tofu, tofu katsu curry, spicy chicken curry, salmon teriyaki, chicken teriyaki, vegetable yakisoba, among others.

While its cold food offerings include a variety of handmade sushi sets and combinations, poke and party platters. Its sides, soups and salads section includes favourites like gyoza, ebi shumai, katsu salad, crabstick seaweed salad, edamame, kimchi, onigiri, spring rolls, pumpkin koroke, and more.

Other Kokoro branches can be found in Bath, Gloucester, Cheltenham and other cities.
