Gen Z’s really know how to aim high.
For those born between 1997-2012, becoming a model is the most sought-after job, according to a British study of Instagram posts by Classcentral.com, a search engine for online courses.
Coming in second was artist, followed by photographer.
The study analyzed the volume of career-related hashtags such as #Doctor and #Influencer on Instagram to determine the ranking.
The profession, model, received more than 380 million Instagram posts while artist nabbed over 345 million career-related hashtags.
Photographer is the third-most popular hashtag, with over 268 million posts on Instagram, followed by makeup artist (149 million posts), blogger (127 million posts) and in sixth place, marketing (86 million posts).
“This study demonstrates that Gen Z is drawn toward the more creative industries, especially ones that have become heavily intertwined with social media, such as blogging and influencing,” Dhawal Shah, the CEO of Class Central, said in a statement.
“It’s fascinating to see how social media has impacted career paths of younger generations, and whether more traditional job roles will gravitate lower down the ranking in the future.”
Becoming a singer is named as the seventh-most in-demand job with over 70 million posts, followed by personal trainer (58 million posts), actor (52 million posts) and influencer (50 million posts).
More traditional jobs such as architect and teacher placed 21 and 22, respectively. Doctor came in 24th, dentist 25th and engineer 30th. Journalist ranked way down at No. 45
