Chris McCausland, the Strictly Come Dancing hopeful, faced a gentle rejection from his pro dance partner, Dianne Buswell, following an exhaustive performance.

After the vigorous Salsa left him panting and soaked in sweat, Claudia Winkleman queried: “Is it ‘true’ that after last week, Chris was like, ‘Darling, can we have a slow song please?’ And then that happened! How did you find it?”

To which Chris confessed: “I thought anything would be easy after last week, but it’s just been a continuation. They say Strictly is meant to make me feel fitter I feel like I’ve fallen off a horse and been dragged three miles.”

When Claudia asked Dianne if she had eased up on the intensity, she replied, “Yeah we don’t make it easy. I mean, I trust Chris with all my heart and likewise, right Chris?” With a chuckle, Chris responded: “Yeah. I mean… Every week I say to you, ‘Are you sure?'”, reports the Mirror.

Chriss inspiring journey on the show has touched the hearts of viewers nationwide, securing him as a fan favourite for the glitterball trophy, and leaving audiences moved with his remarkable performances as the first ever blind contestant on the show. Fans have been effusive, one of them expressing “I’m in actual tears at that salsa!”

Agreements flooded in, one admirer commented: “Yessssss Chris, it’s mad how good his lifts are, better than Jamie’s tonight in my opinion.”

Another penned a powerful message: “I love Chris and I think he’s incredible, anyone who fails to think that needs to put a blindfold on and try just standing still let alone moving around a room and then dancing! How he’s doing what he’s doing is mind blowing, Diane is an amazing teacher.”

Fans of the show were taken aback by a “disturbing” blunder in last week’s episode, involving the audience. Viewers noticed two pairs of legs lit up and perceptible throughout the show, situated just behind the judges amidst blue strobe lights.

The peculiar sight prompted one viewer to comment: “Rather unfortunate positioning of two lady audience members on Strictly Come Dancing tonight. Looks like the loo door has been left open.”

So far, Strictly has witnessed the departure of two stars this season, with both Toyah Willcox and Olympic gold medallist Tom Dean having to leave the dance floor. As the competition heats up, bookmakers are concerned about Paul Merson’s prospects after he landed in the dance-off last week.

Meanwhile, Nick Knowles had to withdraw from last week’s live show due to a severe dual injury but is slated for a comeback this week following his recuperation period.
